“Meditation is the process of getting to know your own mind”. – Songyal Rinpoche

Mindfulness meditation cultivates a state of awareness that is less dominated by thinking, less stimulated by imagination and memory, less active, and more open, receptive and in touch with the aspects of one’s experience that are here and now.

Meditation is a mental discipline.  Our aim in our Meditation classes is to help you to develop
personally satisfying practice of meditation by teaching you the theory and allowing you the
opportunity to practise the technique.
Learn the principles of “Letting Go”, “Concentration” & “Mindfulness”
A mind at rest, is a mind in a state of natural ease.

BY MONTH:

September- Body Scan Meditation
By concentrating on the feeling of relaxation in the body, it is as if we become absorbed in the feeling of relaxation itself.  As we feel the body relax the mind goes with it.

October – Focus on the Breath Meditation
The breath is always flowing and by being mindful of the breath our attention gradually rests more and more in the present moment.  Everything other than this present moment is just a memory or imagination.  Rather than going somewhere to be someone and attain something the meditator just listens, watches, feels and pays attention to present moment experience.

November – Centring
Wellness and healing are optimised when our mind is attuned and responsive to the messages from our body, particularly our feeling centre-line.  This means listening and responding to our own needs and feelings instead of neglecting them.    When our attention is dominated by habitual excessive thinking we restrict our ability to listen to our instinct (gut feeling).  Learn to give up the struggle between the thinking mind and the feeling mind.  Decision making becomes easier and clearer.
